UGC NET Paper 1 Logical Reasoning: Detailed Study Notes
Logical Reasoning has two halves. Part A is Western logic: arguments, categorical propositions, syllogisms, fallacies, language, induction and Venn diagrams (Topics 1 to 8). Part B is Indian logic: the pramanas, anumana, vyapti and hetvabhasas, then the remaining pramanas and theories of error (Topics 9 to 18). Typically 4 to 6 questions come from this unit, and they are rule-based, so they are among the most scoring. Topic 19 gives a one-page memory sheet and exam strategy.

How to use these notes
- Round 1: ReadGo in order: Western logic first (the rules), then Indian logic (the schools and the pramanas). Each section gives the definition, the rule, an example and the common trap.
- Round 2: ReviseSwitch on Revision mode on any topic page to see each section's key terms, lists and tables without the explanations. Rewrite the school-wise tables from memory the next day.
- Last week: RecallUse the rapid-recall sheet, the strategy notes in Topic 19 (memory, concept and analysis questions), then practise MCQs topic by topic and return to the matching section for every error.
