UGC NET Paper 1 People, Development and Environment: Detailed Study Notes
Unit IX usually contributes about five questions, and the syllabus is small and repeats across years. The notes follow the official syllabus order: sustainable development, human impact, pollution, health, resources, hazards, the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and international agreements. Each topic explains the concept, gives the facts to memorise in lists and tables, and ends with an Analysis Angle. Topic 10 is a last-day toolkit with a master timeline, a numbers sheet and look-alike pairs.

How to use these notes
- Round 1: ConceptRead the Concept section of a topic once, slowly, so the logic is clear. It is what lets you answer reasoning and statement questions.
- Round 2: MemoryMemorise the lists and tables of that topic in a single sitting, then revise them the next day. Revision mode shows the lists and tables without the explanations.
- Round 3: AnalysisRead the Analysis Angle at the end of each topic and restate each point in your own words, because options are often disguised cause-and-effect links.
- Last week: RecallUse the rapid-recall sheet and Topic 10 (timeline, numbers sheet, look-alike pairs). Watch the near-identical pairs: Kyoto and Paris, Montreal and Vienna, Water Act and Air Act, MDG and SDG.
